Sunday, April 30, 2006 ::: What I think about this film: 1. It's great. Almost awesome. 2. Awesome cast. Totally love Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Matthew Goode. Especially thrilled to see Matthew Goode returning to the big screen. 3. 'Luck is the most important thing'. I don't really know. Perhaps at a matchpoint, yes. But then. No I don't agree with that. If you have to define success and happiness, a matchpoint doesn't need luck. And that's what the movie is about, I think. That people see winning as winning a game. But winning a game isn't winning in life. Life is made of games, but is not a game itself. Sad thing is, while Jonathan is such an evil character, his evilness is subtle. His actions may even be blamed on circumstances, for some people. And this is quite unsettling. Speaking of winning in life, there's this program called 'The Secrets of the Bible - The Gospel of Judas' shown today on the National Geographic Channel. Interesting find - it's actually world news already I think - and it's about a newly found papyrus scripture which bears the title 'The Gospel of Judas'. It was written some 1800 years ago, was condemned and seen blasphemous, hidden, traded, and ruined - until it surfaced again recently. A team of experts were put together to re-assemble the seriously fragmented pieces, and to decode what's written in the codex. And it mentions that Judas, believed by all Christians as the culprit who betrayed Jesus, was actually told to do so by Jesus, and Jesus actually said he's the greatest of all because of that.
